World Poetry Day was declared by UNESCO in 1999, and two years later, the Cultural Center of Belgrade started an event dedicated to contemporary poetry, which very quickly grew into an international poetry festival, which is organized every year on March 21.
On Thursday, March 21, a three-week journey of translated ten of the most famous songs of Hungarian literature began. The poetry of Sándor Petefi, Endre Adi, Gyula Juhas, Arpad Tot, Friđes Karinti, Atila Jožef and Miklos Radnoti, selected by Dr. Marko Čudić, will be highlighted on panels in public city transport vehicles until April 11, the Day of Hungarian Poetry, and passengers will from the most important common spaces in urban areas – public transport – be able to undertake a completely unique reading journey to the neighboring culture. The Culture Department of the Hungarian Embassy, Collegium Hungarikum, with the support of Info Media Group, realized this interesting and interactive event.
